UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE2Topic: Should universal healthcare be available to all regardless of ability to pay in the same way that other services (such as education) are available to all for free. Introduction:Universal healthcare signifies that all individuals would be able to use all of the healthcare services that they require. These services would include preventative, curative and rehabilitative care. These services would be guaranteed to be of sufficient quality, to be effective while guaranteeing not to expose the individual to financial hardships. The United States government establishing a “single payer” healthcare system to provide comprehensive health insurance in place of private insurance companies will bring joy and relief to some but disappointment to others. This paper will confer a logical argument on one side of that debate, consider the objectives and ultimately defend the position that universal healthcare should be available to all regardless of the ability to pay. My argument for this thesis is as follows:P1: A universal healthcare system would reduce the cost of healthcare in the United States. P2: Universal healthcare would ensure that everyone is covered by medical insurance. P3: Professional healthcare promotes good health. C: Therefore, a universal healthcare system should be available to all. This argument is deductively valid because if all the premises are true then the conclusionmust be true as well. Premise one and two go together to show that a universal healthcare systemwould save money for the people by ensuring that each of them are covered all while being a benefit for the government. Premise three shows that we need the knowledge of the doctors to remain healthy and to heal us when we become sick. Since all of the premises are met the stated results follow and we can infer the conclusion. Let’s examine each of these premises one by one.
